Smartphone gaming revenues grew 25.6% according to a new report by Wall Street Journal: that puts the global revenues at $86.3 billion.
That’s huge: to put this in perspective, the global shaving cream market was valued at USD 562.8 million in 2019.
Part of this growth was because of the pandemic, with serious gamers staying home and playing more on their little screens. But China, as a geographical market, is also a huge driver.
Tencent Holdings is now the world’s largest game company and it’s not alone: keep an eye on ByteDance (the maker of TikTok) who’s been making serious acquisitions in this space.
